Gerhard Wölfle Professional Audio Engineering

I am a sound engineer with four decades experience in recording and mixing music in various genres for lots of national and international artists and projects. From pop/rock to jazz, from bigband to filmscores and classical music.

I started my career in the late 80s as an assistant engineer at Union Studios in Munich, one of the biggest and most renown music production studios in Germany back then, where I had the chance to work with and learn from national and international artists, producers and engineers for about 2 years. Back in the days the assistant engineer was not only just the teaboy who kept the customer satisfied but was responsible for various technical tasks like aligning tape machines, setting up recording and mixing sessions, writing tracks sheets and so on. A very good way to learn in addition to my studies at SAE Institute Munich and soon came the chance to sit in the engineer´s chair...

After my time at Union Studios I became freelance and worked for lots of different music productions in various well-known studios across Germany, Switzerland and Austria for more than a decade. I.e. Horus Sound Studio Hannover, Hansa Studio Berlin, Audio Studio Berlin, Peppermint Park Studio Hannover, Rainbow Studio Munich, Park Studios Tutzing, VOX Klangstudio Hamburg, Basel City Studios, Principal Studios Münster, just to name a few.

In 2003 I joined with Dorian Gray Studios and was responsible for all the technical layout and installation of a completely new built high class studio complex near Munich which was opened for business in 2004. In the following years other new Dorian Gray Studio facilities were built under my guidance in Berlin, Vienna and Hamburg. All equipped with PMC monitoring systems and SSL consoles.

In 2020 Dorian Gray Studios moved to a newly built location in Munich, which was planned and installed under my guidance. Again with very high standards, now with 3 control rooms, 3 recording rooms and a Mastering suite. Dorian Gray Studios in Munich is my homebase up to day.

Since 2005 I am also teaching students in „Audio Engineering“ and give various workshops.

I am a member of „VDT – Verband Deutscher Tonmeister“.
